Special cancer detectors

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month so I thought why not take this as an advantage to find a silver lining here.
Keeping in mind the rising incidences. International Agency for Research on Cancer, which is part of the World Health Organization, there were approximately 79,000 women per year affected by breast cancer in India in 2001 and over 80,000 women in 2002.

Even in large-scale quality controlled programmes, screening mammograms miss approximately 20 per cent of breast cancers present at the time of screening (false negatives). The National Cancer Institute, the US. Estimates that a negative screening mammogram misses 1 in 5 cancers. Women with abnormal results must have additional evaluation procedures to determine whether or not the mammography finding is a cancer. To reduce the stress, one must also note that the vast majority of abnormal tests (false positives) are not cancers.
Where as the golden cloud here is that the mere presence of risk factors is not synonymous with the occurrence of breast cancer nor can all risk factors for breast cancer be mitigated or modified.
The following universal suggestions may be made for all Indian women:
Ø A diet low in fat and rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants (through fresh fruits and vegetables).
Ø Regular exercise and weight reduction.
Ø Alcohol consumption must be avoided or minimized.
Ø Avoid use of tobacco. While tobacco does not lead directly to breast cancer, it can lead to certain benign breast diseases.
Ø Oral contraceptive pills and Hormone Replacement Treatment must be undertaken under the close supervision of a health care provider.
Ø Self-breast examination must be practiced monthly from teenage onwards by all women.
Ø Clinical breast examination may be undertaken annually with one's health care provider.
In women with a significant family history of breast cancer or the others who are at higher risk a specialist surgeon may need to be consulted for statistical assessment of one's individual breast cancer risk or for undertaking genetic testing. where as it depend on doctor weather he suggests the mammographic surveillance(generally from age 35 onwards) or not
As the in the super fast moving world and the fast growing threats of Breast cancer and the reproducer organ cancer what could be the Idea which can alert you for the disastrous diseases.
As this blog is about the ray of hope its about the silver lining in the clouds so here is some thing innovative from the scientists.
Some thing that remains with u almost the entire day they are your lingerie’s. Easily available and always be with u
As the cancer producing tissues produce some different temperatures and they catch and warn the user in audible or visual or both for the threat and if the warning persists then it is the perfect time to go to the doctor. The device is built on technology called microwave radiometry, which measures small temperature changes in internal tissue. Cancerous tumors are known to have a different temperature than the surrounding tissue, often because of inflammation, changes in the blood supply to the area, or increased metabolism in the cells.

Though the companies are going to promote the mass production but issue with this arrangement is that how many people will be able to afford these types of garments. And the other issue is that it requires good amount of power supply. Scientist suggest while doing the checking it would be better if we keep it-plugged in. or wait for the one that is battery operated.
Wouldn’t it be better if regular checkup are promoted within the group for breast cancer they are much cheaper and saves u from the threat
So whom so ever is reading this page make it as their moral duty to ask women in their life to go for regular breast cancer checkup.
Definitely this will increase the awareness and will reduce the chances of cancer from your loved ones.

Future of cow-dung

Uses of cow dung as the era changes earlier it was to paint the house and make the flooring then we used the cow dung as raw fuel for cooking food(chulha) from there the idea generated that why not to use it as the fuel for biogas and ppl started doing that and now ppl we are again going to use it as the floorings and ply material which might get advanced to furniture and other similar goods.

Now that sounds even more interesting although the basic idea is nothing new to an Indian .as We have been doing some thing similar since years.

In India traditionally we still utilize that as manure and fuel material and covering the floors to most of the local cow dung is used out by us but even after doing so ppl in US are not able to utilize the huge cow dung produced. A dairy farm can spend $200 per cow per year to handle its manure. So if we utilize it then surely it will be some WIN -WIN situation for all the farmers and businessman.

But the issue in front of the US ppl was what to do of the huge cow dung produced and they are not being able to utilize. Traditionally, farmers put manure to use by spreading it in their field as a natural fertilizer. But as dairy farms and other livestock operations have gotten larger and more specialized, they can find themselves with too little land for the manure they produce.the anaerobic digesters for manure treatment will use heat to deodorize and sterilize manure, while capturing and using the methane gas it produces will be used to generate electricity. The systems also separate phosphorus-laden liquid fertilizer from semisolid plant residue.

So far, fiberboard made with digester solids seems to match or beat the quality of wood-based products and before we start buying the products they need to test the strength and endurance of the manure-based fiberboard and examine the economic practicality of using digested fiber to make building products. As with the wood-based original, the manure-based product is made by combining fibers with a chemical resin, then subjecting the mixture to heat and pressure.

Uses will surely be interesting. u might start guessing them before the Agricultural scientists will do more on it.

I want to fly like a FLY

When ever I see a bird flying high in the sky I feel like flying that’s how airplanes were made
But generally people don’t get inspired by bees and mosquito’s .have u heard any kid saying mom I want to fly like a fly
The days are not far when people will be rhyming
“I want to fly like fly to be the spy”
now it is turn for scientists to get inspired from fly this time the cause of inspiration is bee as bee wings are rigid at the front and flexible at the back. The structure is the most efficient for generating maximum vortices, or spinning masses of air. The vortices generate lift and keep the insects in the air.
So what our new Fly like Fly will do
And that’s what they are trying in UK and USA so the possible use for the new air craft are:-
§ miniature aircraft that could be used for
§ reconnaissance in areas such as traffic monitoring
§ border surveillance
§ fire and rescue operations
§ even spying as spy planes
§ capturing detailed footage of battlegrounds
§ avoiding the risk involved in deploying human scouts on reconnaissance missions.

So next on we will not be able to ignore even a tiny fly/bee in the room. who knows it might be the spy :D to see your bank account.

Till the next news its

Chair with hairs

Some thing special about human hairs:
§ one strand of hair can support 8,750 times its own weight, a head of hair can support over 13 tons and that hair can double its own length before breaking.
§ This free, sustainable and abundant resource can be molded into any shape and mixed with any matrix
§ It is versatile, waterproof, non-conductive, corrosion free, fire resistant, tough, strong, durable and is able to compete with products, such as medium-density fiberboard, fiberglass, polymers and aluminum
And why I’m telling u all abut this is because some where in London a hairstylist turned to researcher is planning to use human hairs to manufacture a chair J using human hairs a product called Pilius X, the structural basis for the chair . Pilius X is a hair-based bio-polymer mixed with a recyclable bio-resin. and can be dyed to almost any color like hairs

So might be next year Christmas gift to ur loved ones Honey ! a Chair from hair J

Will u like to have cloned nonveg?

To decide whether the cloned animal or the products from cloned animal are acceptable or not first of all we need to know after all how this cloning is done.

To produce a clone, the nucleus of a donor egg is removed and replaced with the DNA of a cow, pig or other animal. A tiny electric shock coaxes the egg to grow into a copy of the original animal. Cloning companies say it's just another reproductive technology, such as artificial insemination, yet there can be differences between the two because of chance and environmental influences
In other words they want to say that none of the genes have been changed or moved or deleted from the original animal. hmm something like genetic twins .
And now when we know some what abt the cloning the question again comes back to the same point will we accept the cloned food.
FDA scientists concluded there is no difference between food from clones and food from other animals
But how ethical will it be to have cloned animal even if it is safe to eat? Wouldn’t the cloned animals will end up just being on the dining tables rather then being an aid to solve the medical issues or improve the heard health. How it will make a difference in economy of poultry industry.
But these all questions come when it will be proven that they are 100 % safe to accept. Then the question will come regarding the special labeling for the eatables produced by these clone animals. I don’t know what these poultries will decide up to but my opinion is that let the ppl decide weather they want to have cloned food for them or not. Just give them the options too.
So if this is accepted then all hotels have to revise their menu with cloned options too.
Again the question comes there and then only will you like to have milk or meat from cloned animal or Not. And how far this is required? Now the decision is yours.

Sunshade for all

People say that creativity is not all about finding out different solutions every time its some thing about applying the simple solution to the different issue too.
How many times we have used the sun shades or sun protection devices in our life’s may be countless times in form of sunscreen, umbrella, hats.. So this simpler idea was utilized by the scientist” Roger Angles” to use the Sunshades to protect the earth from the harmful uv rays. On hearing this it sounds some thing like of Munna Bhai’s CIRCUIT "ho jayenga bhai" .To give sunshade to the entire earth. The easier it sounds the tougher it is.
Initially Roger planned something like a light-blocking cirrus cloud; the flock of spacecraft would diffuse about two percent of the sun's energy away from the Earth.
So instead of one shade, he devised a plan to launch trillions of disc-like craft, each 2 feet in diameter. Made from a lightweight film, each vehicle would weigh as little as a butterfly.
And this special craft will be launched by using electromagnetic energy instead of fuel, using a mile-high vertical track to fling about a million compactly packed spacecraft into orbit at once. It would take about ten years and a few trillion dollars to get every component into orbit. Hff now it looks some thing tough to do, but this is not the end once there, each flyer would join the cloud. Special crafts with radio beacons that work like Global Positioning satellites would be scattered throughout the cloud, sending position and velocity information to each craft to help it maintain its position facing the sun. Further Tiny, mirror-like sails would harness the pressure created by sunlight to control each craft's position.
the expected lifetime of each craft is around 50 years. Although the sunshade could potentially cool global temperatures and what amount of changes it will bring to the weather systems and water cycle is also an not much predictable issue till now.
But but to for the issue we need to get approval from all the nations existing on the earth. which in itself is a tougher task .
And if the plan gets approved and succeeded then we will be having a tiny black spot on the sun. which might be the beauty spot for the sun to save us from the harmful uv rays.
Isn’t it much easier to reduce our emissions, cut our energy use cover small distances by cycle or walk , become more efficient, reduce waste of energy reduce pollution and develop much more renewable energy.
